Blueberry Honey

Blueberry Honey

In the spring honeybee hives are placed in the blueberry fields for pollination purposes.  Honeybees are one of the major pollinators for the blueberry plant and the more bees that visit, the more prolific the plant blossoms and the fruit.

The bees take the nectar from the tiny white flowers of the blueberry bush.  The nectar makes a honey which is typically light amber in color and with a full, well-rounded flavor.

According to Brock University Blueberry and Buckwheat honeys have the highest antibacterial, anti-oxidants, high in polyphenols, compounds thought to help reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.
